High culture

A new season of ‘Terrats En Cultura’ begins with a performance of poetry and music by the singer of the group Delafé.

Everything is ready for culture to take to the rooftops of Barcelona once again. Performances featuring music, drama, poetry and dance will take place in spaces where clothes are usually hung out to dry. Terrats En Cultura is an initiative by Coincidències, an association that was created in the spring of 2013 with the intention of creating new cultural experiences and taking them to new places in the city.

The 2018 programme features eleven dates scheduled to take place from May to September. Cesk Freixas, Sidonie, Daniel Lumbreras and Donallop are among the participating artists, though here we’ll focus specifically on the programme for May. On 4 May, Oscar D'Aniello, the leader of the group Delafé will be reciting some of his compositions accompanied only by Rafel Plana on piano in a performance titled Delafé NU. A week later, there will be a double-bill of dance and movement by the prestigious Moveo troupe and a solo performance by one of the company’s dancers. 17 May sees Shuarma playing a tribute to David Bowie and to finish the month, on 25 May you can see a performance of the play Anna, which was written and directed by Marc Torrecillas and is set on the night of Saint John in the 1950s.

These are, therefore, excellent opportunities to enjoy culture in a different way: outdoors on a rooftop while the sun is setting. Another remarkable feature of this initiative is the fact that ticketholders won’t know the exact venue until a few hours before the performance is due to begin.
