The point of view of women in German cinema

The Goethe Institut proposes the female film series ‘FemFilm’, a selection of the best films by German-speaking directors.

The Goethe Institut puts women in the spotlight with the cycle ‘FemFilm – La mirada de las mujeres’, where they present a selection of the best films by German-speaking directors. The cycle began on April 7 and will continue every Wednesday until May 26 with films such as Fukushima, mon amour, Rompeestructuras or 24 Semanas, where women are the protagonists both in front of and behind the camera. The next session will be on April 14 with the film Hannah Arendt, by Margarethe von Trotta, one of the most prominent representatives of the New German Cinema generation. On the April 21, you can watch Fukushima, mon amour, a 2016 film by Doris Dörrie, the story of a young woman who travels to Japan to help the survivors of the Fukushima disaster.

The cycle closes in April with El parque de los vídrios rotos by Bettina Blümner (Apr 28), and continues during May with Rompeestructuras by Nora Fingscheidt (May 12), Los anteojos de Tito by Regina Schilling (May 19) and 24 semanas by Anne Zohra Berrached (May 26). There will be a double session each day, at 4.30 pm and 7 pm, so you have more opportunities to attend.

Sessions are free and it is essential to book in advance via the link available in each film. There you will find the instructions and details of the health protocol of the Goethe Institut. You will find more information on their website.
