“De Miró a Barcelona”, in the Joan Miró Foundation

Open from the 9th of May to the 2nd of November, the exhibition is an attempt to revitalise works which the Catalan artist bequeathed to the city from the 1960s onwards

From the 9th of May to the 2nd of November, the Joan Miró Foundation is hosting an exhibition entitled De Miró a Barcelona, a collection of drawings, sketches, models, photographs and videos that allow the visitor to contextualise the works of Miró that are on display Barcelona’s public spaces while proposing a reflection on the artist’s close ties with the city and the country through an examination of his commitment to contemporary art.

The exhibition presents preparatory works of Miró for the creation of pieces conceived for display in the city’s public spaces, such as the mural at the airport or the mosaic in the Pla de l’Os, in the heart of La Rambla.

De Miró a Barcelona initiates a new series of exhibitions under the umbrella title Miró Documents, dedicated to revisiting the works of the artist contained in the Foundation’s artistic and documentary collection. In keeping with the artist’s desire to donate these pieces to the city, the exhibition is free of charge.
