‘Dies curts’ is the initiative of the Filmoteca de Catalunya to give visibility to the format of the short film

Make your ‘Days Shorter’ with the Filmoteca de Catalunya

The Filmoteca will make a weekly proposal of short films by different authors to give visibility to this format, which is so difficult to distribute.

The short film format is perfect for experimenting and entering the audiovisual world from any genre, but it is often underestimated. It is a difficult format to distribute and, aware of this reality, the Filmoteca de Catalunya has wanted to remedy it. Taking advantage of the state of alarm, they have launched the ‘Dies curts’ (catalan for ‘shorter days’) initiative, where each week they will propose a different filmmaker, new or experienced, with a selection of his works in this format so that you can enjoy from home. In this way, they not only give visibility to the format itself, but also to the chosen filmmakers.

The first week has started with the director, investigative journalist and teacher Carolina Astudillo Muñoz, a Chilean who has focused her professional career on documentary creation. Her selected works, including Un paseo por New York Harbor and Lo indecible, can be considered poetic pieces that she creates with a painstaking process of researching and editing archival images. Her works will be available until Wednesday April 22 and will give way to a new filmmaker.

You will find the selected works on the Filmoteca's YouTube channel, but the best way to stay up to date with the proposals is through their social media.
