European Lab

The fourth European Lab forum confirmed the event as an essential political and cultural meeting for independent European stakeholders

The Direcció de Creativitat I Innovació of ICUB has participated into the European Lab, from Tuesday 27 May to Friday 30 May. The Lab welcomed more than 120 speakers and 650 delegates and accredited members including cultural activists, artists, representatives, entrepreneurs, journalists, festival directors, label managers and those who run independent cultural venues.

Over 3,600 people attended the forum’s various events, including conferences, workshops, keynotes, projections, showcases and networking sessions.

The European and international independent cultural community came from over 30 countries and 50 cities (Bogota, Donetsk, Tangier, Thessaloniki, Berlin, Helsinki, Sarajevo, Barcelona, London and Belgrade just to name a few) to Lyon to invent, share and debate the culture of the future.

Some of the personalities who participated in the fourth edition of the Lab include filmmaker Michel Gondry, economist Saskia Sassen, researcher Priya Prakash, artists Pedro Winter, Laurent Garnier, Mike Pickering, Matt Black (Coldcut), as well as Alain Damasio, Bruce Sterling, Didier Fusillier, journalists Nicolas Demorand and John-Paul Lepers and architect Odile Decq.

The Arty Farty and European Lab teams will soon publish a complete report of the forum, as well as a declaration summarising the conclusions, expectations and propositions that were formulated throughout this year’s Lab.
