Love is in the air, by Banksy
Banksy's work Napalm

A deep dive into Banksy's mysterious world

The Disseny Hub Barcelona is hosting a four-month-long exhibition with a hundred works by an artist of unknown identity.

It's one of the biggest exhibitions of the season. The sample has received more than a million visits around the world and is now arriving at the Disseny Hub Barcelona, where it will be until March 13 of next year. Banksy, The Art of Protest brings together a hundred works, many of them iconic, by this influential artist whose face and name are unknown. One of the few things we know about him is his birthplace – Britain. It is a full-on immersion inside Banksy's mysterious world. Sold Out, the company in charge of the exhibition — alongside the venue hosting it — has purposely created an immersive multimedia installation that welcomes visitors and reveals clues about the artist.

The works come from private international collections, and many will be seen in public for the first time. Controversial topics such as globalization, consumerism, wars, climate change, politics, the power of religion and class struggle are all present in Banksy's creations. The pieces have been created through many different techniques: oil, acrylic or spray paint on canvas and wood, limited edition silkscreen prints, sculptures, installations, videos, photographs, and so on. The way he directly communicates with his audience — without filters and rejecting the system and its rules — stands out in his works, through which he aims to inform and invite people to reflect.
