Past, present and future of the Barcelona coastline
Montjuïc Castle presents a historical tour of the coastal transformation and reflects on the new period marked by global warming.
From Montjuïc Castle you can see the coast of Barcelona, a first line of sea that has changed over time and is expected to continue to change in the coming decades, and not only due to human constructions, but also to climate change looming around the globe. It is in this sense that The coastline of Barcelona, the new exhibition curated by the historian and geographer Santiago Riera, hosted in the castle's courtyard, makes a journey through how the Barcelona coast has transformed because of the relationship of humans with the sea, but mainly wants to generate a reflection on the coming years and the challenges of making a sustainable planet.
This is an exhibition with a high experimental component (always taking into account the regulations established against the spread of covid-19) and uses touchless technology, with which the visitor activates content without physically touching anything. People who go there will find different languages, technologies and visual, sound, audiovisual and light formats that will explain and stage the contents.
