‘Els ulls de La Model’

The Model Prison illustrated in ‘Els ulls de La Model’

The personal vision of various artists of the city's most iconic prison.

As you may know, Barcelona’s Model Prison ceased to be used as such on 8 June 2017. Since then, many people have had the opportunity to visit the site on organized tours and it’s an experience that has left nobody indifferent. Consequently, the city’s La Industrial art school has asked its students to present their personal vision of the prison in the form of illustrations which made up the final project of their degrees. The result of their work is the exhibition ‘Els ulls de La Model’, featuring 15 illustrated albums containing real or fictional stories that cast a critical eye on reality.

The exhibition can be seen from Monday to Saturday from 10 January to 7 February at Centre Cívic Urgell. There is also a guided tour of the prison scheduled for 6.30pm on 21 January.

Both the exhibition and the guided tour are free of charge. Additional information is available from the civic centre website.
