The exhibit "7.5 million looks"

The looks of confinement

Photographers Adriana Eskenazi and Laura Encursiva have created an exhibit at the Palau Robert that demonstrates and expresses the experiences and feelings COVID-19 has brought on for people.

The Palau Robert will showcase 60 snapshots until September 23 taken by Adriana Eskenazi and Laura Encursiva titled, 7.5 million looks. The purpose of the exhibit is to highlight the diverse feelings and experiences than COVID-19 has given people, especially in the situation of a quarantine and confinement. The two photographers, Adriana and Laura wanted to  clearly and visually express this new and unpredictable period that we are all experiencing in our society. COVID-19 has abruptly put many of our lives on pause, and for many has brought about common experiences, but at the same time very diverse experiences, given somebody's personal situation.

The photographs in the exhibit make it clear that COVID-19 and quarantine truly changed everything. Many of the situations and precautions that we must take moving forward within society would have been completely absurd and unimaginable, even only days before the widespread of the virus. On the many different faces you see portrayed within the exhibit, various expressions, emotions and feelings are evident. Fear, uncertainty, hunger, rage, pain, resentment, even death... but there are also looks of hope and the return of normalcy. The exhibit also highlights the bravery of health personnel, firefighters, and those who, despite the situation, have had to be in the front line of their work, risking their own health and safety everyday for the well being of others. These brave people are constantly at risk and very close to the disease, and they have been essential for the world to return to normal everyday life  as well as directl saving lives.
