Fermín Muguruza celebrates 40 years claiming social rights through music
The Basque artist will review his musical career since the formation of Kortatu at Palau Sant Jordi.
After more than 10 years without international tours, Fermín Muguruza arrives at Palau Sant Jordi for a vital show. A concert that symbolises the recognition of a long career that has always been unconventional. It is the artist's personal celebration of the 40 years he has been on stage, from the creation of Kortatu, through Negu Gorriak, to his solo work.
On January 24th there will be a festival in which the Basque artist will once again use music as a means of expression and a trigger for social change. A show that goes beyond a simple concert, where the songs that are already regarded as hymns by more than one generation will be played. Specifically, the artist conceives this tour as an exercise in collective memory and a celebration of life through music, dance and vindication.
Songs such as Black is Beltza, Bere-Bar and La Línea del Frente will be performed with great passion and strength on the night of Sant Jordi. Because Fermín Muguruza is a musician with a long career who has stood out for his powerful lyrics, full of emotion, devotion and social criticism in a need to do away with class stereotypes.
The Basque artist with a punk attitude is also a producer and director of documentary films and has received several awards for his social work and his fight for the rights of those who have less. At Amal Festival in Galicia, he was awarded the prize for best documentary for his work Checkpoint Rock, a film created jointly with the director Javier Corcuera that tells the story of a culture that tries to survive in the dark and where rap, rock and traditional music will be the guiding thread of the story of the protagonists.
Do you want to experience a historic concert where music is conceived as an architect of social change? Celebrate Fermín Muguruza's 40th anniversary on stage and enjoy a collective celebration like never before. You will find more information and tickets on the Palau Sant Jordi website.
