Poster of the Festa Major de Gràcia 2022

Back to normality in style

The Festa Major de Gràcia recovers its pre-pandemic splendour.

From 15 to 21 August, the popular neighbourhood dresses up and returns to normality after the pandemic, with more than 900 activities.

The president of the Fundació Festa Major de GràciaCarla Carbonell, will be the town crier. It will be on 14 August in the afternoon at the district headquarters. Carbonell is closely involved in this event and was the first president of this entity.

The Lleó de Gràcia will be presented as the latest novelty. It is a new figure that will be added to the festive bestiary and will be shown to the public on 15 August during the Matí de Festa Major. It will come out at the end of the dances at the district headquarters.

The Plaça de la Vila will be the setting for the popular parade on the same day, with the participation of many neighbourhood organisations, such as the Colla dels Geganters de GràciaTrabucaires de GràciaColla de Bastoners de Gràcia and the Àguila de Gràcia.

The streets will be the centre of the festivities, with spaces in Bailèn and the squares of Sol, Diamant, Dones del 36 and Joanic.

Another classic will be the guided tours of the Torre del Rellotge. The tower was built between 1862 and 1864 when Gracia was an independent town. It was designed by Antoni Rovira i Trias to become a symbol and the pride of a municipality that was growing and has now become a symbol of the district.

The Fundació Festa Major de Gràcia and the Districte de Gràcia have been preparing all the activities for almost a year with one aim in mind: they should be for everyone, plural and participative: music, castellers (on 19 and 20 August), correfocsdiablesgegants and exhibitions. This year, the poster is the work of Robert García, an illustrator, who has reflected in it the preparations of the neighbourhood to decorate the streets of the Vila.
