A life in constant transition
The Filmoteca de Catalunya is showing 'Outside Noise', a film by Ted Fendt about the fears and pleasures of being thirty.
On 25 and 26 May, the Filmoteca de Catalunya will be screening the latest work by the American independent filmmaker Ted Fendt. Outside Noise is the first film Fendt has shot in Germany, the country where he currently resides.
With his characteristic blend of narrative restraint and intellectual curiosity, the director follows a group of girls through Berlin and Vienna over the course of a few months, in particular Daniela, who has just returned from a trip to New York.
Shot in 16 mm and bright natural light, Outside Noise — written by Fendt himself and his two leads, Daniela Zahlner and Mia Sellmann — is a depiction of the fears and pleasures of being thirty. The film, which has never been released in our country, describes the current situation of a large part of the European youth, submerged in a transitional stage that never seems to end, halfway between anxiety and indifference, and always expectant of a future that seems uncertain, waiting for something to happen the next day.
The screening of Outside Noise is part of the programme Els millors films de l’any 2021 / Inèdits, a selection of five titles that have been screened at festivals and international events but have not been released on our screens. They are Petite Solange by Axelle Ropert, A Night of Knowing Nothing by Payal Kapadia, Haruharasan no uta by Kyoshi Sugita, and Charm Circle by Nira Burstein.
The price for each show is 4 euros, and tickets can be purchased in advance at this link.
