“The Food Guide to Love”, starring Leonor Watling, opens in cinemas
The film, a romantic comedy with a gastronomic backdrop, opens on the 9th of May and is co-directed by Dominic Harare and Barcelona-born Teresa de Pelegrí
Leonor Watling and Richard Coyle star in The Food Guide to Love (Amor en su punto), a delightful romantic comedy set in Dublin city. The film is directed by real-life couple Dominic Harare and Barcelona-born Teresa de Pelegrí, the directors of Seres Queridos and script writers for Inconscientes, by Joaquím Oristrell, among others, and is, according to the directors, a story of universal love.
In the film was presented at the last edition of the Málaga Film Festival and stars Richard Coyle as Oliver Byrne, a gastronomy journalist in crisis. Despite the fact that his multi-media column about haute cuisine and the search for a soul mate is a great success, his love life is a disaster. When he meets Bibiana (Leonor Watling), a curator of Spanish art, Oliver feels an incredible and undeniable attraction for her even though they have nothing in common. She is a kamikaze in her love-life, always launching herself into impossible relationships, while he lives in fear of commitment.
According to the directors, the film “speaks about how easy it is to fall in love and how difficult it is to make it last”, mixing love and fine dining with humour. “We were drawn to the idea”, they say, “of making a bitter-sweet romantic comedy where food was the playing field, the battleground where all the relationship’s conflicts are fought”. The Food Guide to Love opens in cinemas on the 9th of May.
