In the footsteps of Edgar Allen Poe

On Wednesday the 17th of July, a performance combining dance, poetry and music will recreate the world of the North American writer

The macabre world of writer Edgar Allen Poe is the driving force behind the performance titled A oas d'Edgar Allan Poe (In the footsteps of Edgar Allan Poe), which forms part of the series Nits d’Estiu en la CaixaForum. The performance can be seen on Wednesday the 17th of July.

Actor David Planas, dancer Nagore Somoza and singer Jordi Homs combine their talents to recreate the world of the North American master of the horror story. The selection of poems and the presentation are both by Miquel Berga, the production is in the hands of the Girona Municipal School for Liberal Arts and the artistic coordination is a joint effort by Meritxell Cardellach and Joan Vilajoana.

A pas d'Edgar Allan Poe
affords audiences the opportunity to approach the supernatural ambiences that populate the pages of stories such as “The Black Cat” or “The Tell-tale Heart”, and to delve into the musicality of poems such as “The Raven” – a literary universe that is continually seeking aesthetic beauty.

The series Nits d’Estiu in the CaixaForum takes place every Wednesday during the months of July and August. With a programme that places particular emphasis on music, the auditorium of the CaixaForum will host a variety of shows that combine the performing arts with other disciplines.
