Four new exhibitions in La Virreina Centre de la Imatge at its reopening

They are ‘Sisters!’, by Barbara Hammer, ‘El Third Estate’, of Daniel G. Andújar, ’On Photography’, by Susan Sontag and 'Olvido's Bar', by Rafel Bernis.

La Virreina Centre de la Imatge returns, and you could say it’s as if time had stopped, as the 9th of June it’s going to inaugurate the four exhibitions that were meant to launch on Friday the 13th of March but had to be postponed because of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic and the beginning of confinement. Like in all spaces, sanitary prevention and protection measures will be established, amongst these a capacity limit, but the opening hours will be the same as they had been before the parentheses of the pandemic from the very first day: From Tuesday to Sunday and festivities, from 11am to 8 in the afternoon.

The visitors will be able to choose between a quartet of exhibitions or visit more than one if they have time. Sisters! makes its way around half century of Barbara Hammer’s track record (Los Angeles,1939-New York, 2019), one of the most influential voices of experimental cinema and activism in the United States. The Third Estate gathers forty of Daniel G. Andújar’s projects (Almoradí, 1966) related to the utopias that, from the artistic perspective, aim to create an aesthetic of the working class. Olvido's Bar will also be inaugurated. This exposition by Rafael Bernis (Barcelona 1945) will show for the first time, the complete photographic report he did in the old Chinese neighbourhood of Barcelona. Finally, the display On Photography is based on the emblematic book of Susan Sontag, on the assumption that it can be explored as a curator exercise.

All of these suggestions are commissioned by Valentín Roma, and you will find the information in this link.
