This collective exhibition brings together over 400 works on paper

Fourteen galleries get together to put on a large-scale exhibition of art on paper

This is the fourth edition of an event that aims to reach out beyond the normal gallery-going public.

Until 27 May fourteen of the city’s top art galleries will be taking part in the 4th edition of #paper, during which they will offer collective and solo exhibitions featuring art on paper. The organisers, who refer to this year’s edition as one of consolidation, justify the initiative arguing that, “the essence of contemporary creation lies on paper, where artists’ essential world of imagination is generated and which is the where the mental and sensual universe of the human being is made material”.

The participating galleries are: A/34, Petritxol, Barbié, Clavell & Morgades, Fernando Pinós, EUDE, Gothsland, Marcs Petritxol, Dolors Junyent, Olga de Sandoval, Palau Antiguitats, Jordi Pascual, Wynwood Art Lab and Roger Viñuela. In total, 400 works will be on display, dating from the 18th century to 2017. The people behind the project point out that one of the main objectives of this initiative is to reach out to people who don’t usually make up part of the art world by helping them to “discover the comprehensive programme” put on by the participating galleries. To this end, visitors to any of these places can get a free passport, which comes with basic information on the galleries and the activities carried out in each of them. Furthermore, each gallery visited will be ticked off and people who visit all fourteen will take part in a raffle for a cultural trip for two people to Zurich.

Jaume Plensa, Antoni Tàpies, Xavier Nogués, Francisco de Goya, William Hogarth, Lluís Bagaria, Emilio Freixas and Luis Marsans are just some of the many artists featured in the joint exhibition put on by the 14 participating galleries.
