The fourth edition of Tallers Oberts (Open Workshops) Barcelona

Artists and artisans from various districts will open their workshops to the public

The objective of Tallers Oberts Barcelona is to acquaint the general public with the techniques and processes used by the creators to produce their works. The original idea came from the artists and artisans of the Ciutat Vella district eighteen years ago, when they decided to open their workshop doors to the public in order to break down barriers and also to give themselves the opportunity to meet other creators.

The tradition has continued since then and, since four years ago, has expanded into other districts. With coordination provided by A-Fad, virtually all the city’s districts now partake in the initiative and a variety of related activities have been added to the programme.

On the weekend of the 3rd to the 5th of May, the workshop open days will commence in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi and Gràcia districts. The following weekend, from the 11th to the 13th, will be the turn of the artists and artisans from Poble Sec and Ciutat Vella, and finally, on the 18th and 19th, the creators of the Poblenou district will open their doors.

The programme of activities will also include technical demonstrations, musical auditions, children’s workshops, guided tours, competitions, and much more, and visitors will be encouraged to participate where possible.

In the Centre for Arts and Design Promotion, FAD, where the inaugural gala will be held, visitors may also attend the exhibition Síntesi, which includes a selection of works by a variety of artists.
