Gaming Tours by Barcelona Lab

An initiative that allows learning new technologies, playing in group and knowing better the neighborhoods from Barcelona.

Barcelona Lab is a platform by Direcció de Creativitat I Innovació which hosts various programs dedicated to promote and establish connections between individuals or communities and ideas and creative projects applied to the world of technology, science, knowledge and culture from Barcelona. To do so, Barcelona Lab is working with different organizations to carry out projects such as the Office of Citizen Science or #NetBCNLab meetings.

Today we present the Gaming Tours, an initiative of Interactive Technologies Group at the University Pompeu Fabra and organized together with Barcelona Lab. The objective of gaming tours is to facilitate the use of technology among older people, know the environment and get people involved in the neighborhood.

Up to now Barcelona Lab has organized tours in Gracia and Born neighborhoods, where participants had to do a gymkhana full of challenges that they had to overcome, in groups, with the help of tablets and smartphones equipped with geolocation, one of the essential ingredients of gaming tours.

We are currently working on organizing a new route in the district of Sant Andreu. Although there is no specific date for the activity is expected to take place in mid-June this year.
