A handful of unique locations with activities for summer evenings

Buildings with significant cultural heritage value will be playing host to special visits, live music, and much more

Those summer days when we decide to stay put in Barcelona are ideal occasions for a little tourism in our own back yard. In the evenings, when the temperatures drop and we can appreciate the soothing effect of the sea breezes, are the perfect time to take part in activities of this type. One proposal for such moments is to pay a visit to some of our more treasured heritage homes and buildings, often to the accompaniment of live music and a glass of wine or cava.

The Cases Singulars (Unique Homes) initiative, which promotes visits to a dozen or so houses in Barcelona and six other locations throughout Catalonia, has programmed visits to four of these locations during the first weeks of July.
On the 2nd of July, the doors open for a visit to the studio-workshop of Oleguer Junyent, a collector, traveller and decorator of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, with accompaniment by the Cor Illa de l’Aire.
Two days later sees the turn of the Torre Bellesguard, which boasts a Gaudí façade, where visitors will be offered a glass of cava to the accompaniment of saxophonist Aljosa Mutic in the gardens of the building.
Visits have been programmed for the two following Tuesdays, the 9th and the 16th, to the Casa de Manuel Rocomora and the Palau Moxó, respectively. The first of these contains collections of paintings, sculptures and ceramics from Alcora as well as dolls, machinery and objects from advertising campaigns. The Palau Moxó, on the other hand, is the only 18th century palace in the Gothic district that maintains its original furnishings and decoration.
In addition there is a series of jazz concerts on the roof terrace of the Casa Milà and evening visits to this modernist building that go by the name of La Pedrera Secreta, The Secret Pedrera.
The Casa Batlló will be hosting a programme titled Nits Mágiques (Magical Evenings), with exclusive live music performances on the rooftop and the main floor from Tuesdays to Sundays until the 27th of September.
