Helena Lumbreras’ cinema, online thanks to the Filmoteca

An excellent opportunity to rediscover the film footage from the Colectivo de Cine de Clase, portraits from the 1970s

From the Filmoteca de Catalunya and its Conservation and Restoration Centre (2CR), they have opted to make some of their most relevant titles accessible online.

A very attractive initiative in these times marked by the confinement, in which the title selection from the Colectivo de Cine de Clase stands out, led by the filmmaker Helena Lumbreras and the philosopher Mariano Lisa.

Lumbreras (Cuenca, 1935 - Barcelona, 1995) moved to Italy in the 60s, she studied at the Centro Sperimentale de Cinematografía, worked at RAI and moved through the left-wing film circles, where there was Pasolini, Pontecorvo or Rosi. After filming "Spagna 68", about the fight against the Franco regime, she founded, together with the Philosophy professor Mariano Lisa, the Colectivo de Cine de Clase, to "film dreams of people who struggle to improve their living conditions".

Together they filmed "El cuarto poder" (1972), an analysis of the official State media and a call for clandestine publications; "El campo para el hombre" (1972), testimony of the precarious situation of the rural world; "O todos o ninguno" (1976) a declaration of intent about the collective workers' struggle and without hierarchies; and "A la Vuelta del grito" (1977), which is a portrait of the future of the working class of the moment.

You can see all these films here.
