Drap-Art takes the Gòtic

The International Festival of Sustainable Art is taking the Borsí as its operations centre for this edition in memory of the abstract painter Modest Cuixart.

The International Festival of Sustainable Art of Catalonia, Drap-Art’22, will celebrate its 26th edition from November 17 to December 21.

Faced with the increasingly urgent need to embrace a shift towards a more environmentally, economically and socially sustainable world, Drap-Art is once again committed to art as a tool for social transformation and invites contemporary and urban artists, designers, artisans, multifaceted and indefinable creators, amateur activists and creatives from all fields to present their projects.

This year's edition will also take place in emblematic spaces and buildings of the Gòtic, such as the Borsí, which will host the opening at 6.30 p.m. and a performance by Sayen Cuadrado Llahí at 8 p.m., after which the vernissage In Memoriam. Homenatge a Modest Cuixart, will be held in the Villa del Arte Galleries, in carrer de la Palla. The tribute will conclude with the conference Cuixart and the expression of the object, by Raquel Medina, on November 24 at 7 p.m.

The participating artists will be presented on December 8 at 7 p.m. Among the guests, we can find Eirik Audunson Skaar, Rani Bruchstein, Ulrike Koeb, Edgar Massegú, Xavier Pons Inbernon, Miguel Escobar, Manel Sellarès, Christine Hinterkörner (aka Chrystn Hunt Akron), Boback Emad, Ramiro Sobral and Daniel Bornmann.

The Borsí will also be the scenario for the audio performance Plants and plastics configuration file by Carlos Vásquez, Valentina Alvarado, Guillermo Carrió, Paula Bruna and Llapispanc (December 10 at 8 p.m.), the talk about The New Law of Plastics – The Importance of Art in Activism, with representatives of Rezero and the artist duo Alacalle (December 15, 7 p.m.) and different workshops: Climate Walk (November 20, 12 p.m.), Flairdrum Instrument Building Workshop (November 20, 4 p.m.), Rain of Colors (November 27, 12 a.m.), Drap Art (December 4, 11 and 18, 12 a.m.), Art and weaving: Recover, reuse and recycle (December 14, 11 a.m.), Painting workshop with natural, ecological and sustainable dyes and Silk-screen printing (December 14, 6 p.m.).

To round off the programme there will be concerts in plaça del Rei (November 19, 8 p.m. and December 10, 11 a.m.) and several permanent performances in plaça del Rei (The Little Sun, by Audunson Skaar), Rambla de les Flors (The Gaze and I had a Dream, by Jordi Prat Pons) and d’en Carabassa and d’en Groc streets (Macroplastics, by Hombrelópez and Anita Burdon). The festival will close on December 21 at 6 p.m. with an event in Plaça de la Mercè.
