All kinds of activities to celebrate International Women's Day 2020

Barcelona for women

The city is buzzing with activities to celebrate International Women’s Day.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8 March, the city of Barcelona will come alive with all kinds of activities for all ages. On 1 March, the MNAC will set the ball rolling with a gender-focused guided tour, which will be repeated on the remaining Sundays of the month. An exhibition on Montserrat Negre, an important figure in the world of paper restoration in the country, will be open until 15 May. A conference about her will also be given on 1 April. The museum is going to offer all kinds of activities, including a dramatised story, open doors for women and theatrical representations.

Centres Cívics are also protagonists in this celebration. On 2 March, Centre Civic Cotxeres Borrell will open the exhibition ‘A Barcelona fem urbanisme de gènere’ (Gender-based urban planning) about the inclusive view and inequalities shown in urban development around the city. On Wednesday 4th, Centre Civic Vil·la Florida will organise an itinerary of footprints left by women in the city and on Thursday 5th the ‘Adona’t’ cycle organised by the Coll neighbourhood will commence, with workshops, photographic exhibitions and even a calçotada. In addition, a session of Feminist Monologues will be held in Centre Civic Bon Pastor with the humourist and journalist Ana Polo, as there’s still room for laughter in the women’s revolution.

A summary of all the activities that will take place in the city’s Civic Centres for International Women’s Day are available at this link.
