The Italian Film Festival of Barcelona, from the 12th to the 19th of December

Singer-songwriter Vinicio Capossela will inaugurate the second edition of the festival with a live concert and a presentation of the film Indebito (Rebetiko Crisis: Undue debt)

The Italian Film Festival of Barcelona presents its second edition with the objective of consolidating itself as the festival of festivals. From the 12th to the 19th of December the city’s cinemas will offer free screenings of the best Italians films seen this year in festivals such as Cannes, Locarno, Venice, Toronto and London.

The inauguration will take place on the 12th in La Pedrera and will include the documentary Rebetiko Crisis: Undue debt, presented by the director, Andrea Segre and musician, screenplay writer and protagonist, Vinicio Capossela, who in addition will offer a live concert including songs from his latest release, Rebetiko Gymnastas.

Other highlights of the festival will include Miele (Honey), a film dealing with euthanasia which supposes the debut behind the camera of renowned Italian actress Valeria Golino, who will be attending the festival to receive the CSCI Honour Award for her lifetime contribution to film.

Other films included in the festival include Salvo, a police drama directed by Fabio Grassadonia and Antonio Piazza which won an award at the Cannes Critics’ Week, Anni Felici (Those Happy Years), by Daniele Luchetti, L’arbitro (The Referee), by Paolo Zucca, and Viva la libertà (Long Live Freedom), a film starring Toni Servillo and directed by Roberto Andò. Space will also be reserved for some classics, including a small retrospective on film maker Francesco Rosi.
