It’s time for the Santa Eulàlia fiesta!

The grand winter celebration of popular culture is all set to begin

The city is all set to celebrate the fiesta of Santa Eulàlia, the grand winter celebration of popular culture with traditional roots that is made possible by the contribution of young people and children with an aim that goes beyond recovering traditions. And the opening spectacle promises to leave no one indifferent, since it consists of a musical swinging lights and laser show that will be the opening shot for the Protocols de l'Àliga de la ciutat: a procession that will run from Plaça de Sant Jaume fins to the basilica of Santa Maria del Mar. But if you can’t make it on Thursday 11 February at 8pm don’t worry too much, because it will be repeated every 30 minutes in the evening of the 12th, 13th and 14th of February. And, as usual, the fiesta will start in the morning with an opening speech, written by local schoolchildren. Children will also be the main focus of the XIII Mostra d’Esbarts Dansaires Infantils i Juvenils, la XIII Trobada de Gegantons Infantils i d’Escoles de Barcelona i la Lali Jove which will fill the Avinguda de la Catedral with activities and workshops for kids on Friday 12th.

Another highlight of the fiesta is LlumBCN, which will transform the city through 24 light installations created by design professionals and students. 14 of these installations will occupy the patios of iconic buildings in the city. Don’t miss them!

Also on the programme are open-doors sessions and activities at Barcelona Town Hall, the city’s Photographic Archive, Biblioteca Pública Arús, CaixaForum Barcelona, Montjuïc Castle, the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona – CCCB,  CosmoCaixa Barcelona, Born Centre Cultural, Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Fundació Joan Miró, La Capella, MUHBA – Domus de Sant Honorat, Fundació Antoni Tàpies, MUHBA – Plaça del Rei, the Natural History Museum of Barcelona’s  Jardí Botànic de Barcelona and Museu Blau, the Archaeological Museum of Catalonia and the Catalan History Museum, among many others.
