The prestigious drummer is presenting the album Tornaviaje at the Jamboree, accompanied by Ray Colom, Romain Pilon and Manel Fortià.

Gonzalo del Val is one of the most outstanding drummers on the national scene. He teaches at the Conservatori Superior del Liceu and is head of the Department of Jazz and Modern Music. As a musician, he has trained with Guillermo McGill, Aldo Caviglia and Ed Soph.

Professionally, he is a luxury sideman. He has played with more than forty ensembles alongside figures such as Stéphane Belmondo, Marc Miralta, Víctor de Diego, Jordi Bonell, Horacio Fumero, Albert Bover, Joan Albert Amargós and Roberto Tarenzi, among others.

As a solo artist, he has produced a brilliant body of work, appreciated by critics and the most demanding fans, and with coverage in countries such as France and the United States, where the magazines So Jazz and All About Jazz devoted, respectively, pages and covers praising him.

His discography includes works such as Koiné (2016), a trio with Marco Mezquida and David MengualStandards in Dublin (2018, the result of a three-year stay in Ireland), together with saxophonist Dave Liebman; and Cancionero (2020), best jazz album at the Enderrock Awards.

On 13 August, Gonzalo del Val will perform a double session at the Jamboree hall - at 7 and 9 p.m. - as part of the Mas i Mas Festival. He will present his latest work, Tornaviaje, recorded with a new line-up: two of our jazz giants - trumpeter Ray Colom and double bass player Manel Fortià - and one from the French scene, guitarist Romain Pilon.

Tickets to see them live cost 15 euros at the box office and 12 if you buy them in advance at this link.
