Don’t miss the last concerts in the Barcelona Jazz Festival

The most important event of the year for the city’s jazz fans is coming to an end on 22 December though you can still catch the last ten concerts.

The Barcelona Jazz Festival is entering the final stretch of its 2017 edition. The last concert of the season will be at Barts on 22December with Antonio Carmona in which the former member of Ketama will be exploring a fusion of jazz and flamenco styles. But before that, there are plenty of interesting concerts on offer. For example, the young and talented pianist Rui Massena will be playing at the Liceu Conservatory on Tuesday 5 December, The Excitements will be appearing at Apolo on 13 and 14 December and Leon Benavente will be on stage at Barts on 14 December. Just the day before, the same venue will host a Requiem in memory of Enrique Morente.

But we would especially like to recommend two concerts in which jazz really takes centre stage. The first features Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, one of the main representatives of the NOLA scene, who will be playing at Razzmatazz on 9 December. The second concert stars Barbara Hendricks, a great voice in opera who has made frequent incursions into vocal jazz. She will be appearing at Palau de la Música on 15 December as part of a programme of a of jazz and gospel classics with a political message.
