Josep Tero, in the Born Centre Cultural

The Catalan singer-songwriter with Greek musical influences will perform on the 19th of April as part of the series entitled “La cançó nua"

L‘Escala-born singer-songwriter Josep Tero will perform on the 19th of April in the Born Centre Cultural as part of the series entitled La cançó nua (The New Song). Tero is both fascinated and strongly influenced by Greek musical culture and is known as the most “Greek” of the Catalan singer-songwriters. Indeed, the 80,000+ crowd who witnessed Tero’s 2012 concert in the Panathinaikos stadium in Athens were astounded by the fact that a Catalan singer could remind them so much of their own singer-songwriter tradition.

In the performance in the Born Centre, which begins at 9 pm, Tero will interpret adaptations of compositions by Mikis Theodorakis as part of a repertoire prepared especially for the occasion which will include political protest songs adapted from his own texts as well as those of other poets.

The series La cançó nua has been commissioned by theatrical and literary critic, Xevi Planas, and proposes a collection of intimate recitals offering maximum proximity between the artist and the audience. The series continues with recitals by Biel Mayoral on the 3rd of May and Feliu Ventura on the 14th of June.
