Julio Nieto presents “Pell de Metall” in the Museu Diocesà

The exhibition of monumental sculptures was commissioned by the Villa del Arte gallery and can be seen up until the 12th of January

Julio Nieto presents his travelling exhibition Pell de Metall (Metal Skin) in the Museu Diocesà. The selection was commissioned by the Villa del Arte gallery and consists of eight large format bronze and steel sculptures. The works are inspired by popular dream subject matter and the combination of balance and strength of the forms stimulates the emotions of the observer.

The sculptures are monumental in scope and have been designed to be exhibited outdoors. They have been touring plazas and towns throughout Spain since 2008 and art fairs and galleries throughout Europe throughout 2013 and can be seen in the Museu Diocesà until the 12th of January.

The exhibition is an attempt by Nieto to reinvent public spaces as locations which encourage communication, dialog and multicultural coexistence so that the spaces themselves promote the democratisation of the works of art by converting passers-by into participants in the artistic experience.

Born in Durango in 1964, Julio Nieto currently lives in Tenerife. His monumental sculptures have travelled to many countries and have been the subject of many collective and individual exhibitions. Pell de Metall, the travelling sculpture exhibit for exteriors, is his latest work.
