“À la ville de… Barcelona”, in the Teatre Lliure

The musical, composed and directed by Joan Ollé, is a poetical satire on the city’s recent history

The 10th of October saw the first performance of À la ville de… Barcelona in the Teatre Lliure, Montjuïc. The musical by Joan Ollé, one of the best known theatrical directors in the country (highlights of his recent works include Coral romput, El ángel exterminador and El Café), is a distinctly musical tribute to the popular history of the city.

The performance brings to the stage some of Barcelona’s most celebrated personalities, from Snowflake the gorilla to the local character ‘La Moños’, in a review of the sentimental, historical and literary history of the city portrayed with humour, irony, tenderness and plenty of live music; a vibrant and rhythmical theatrical proposal that has returned after its success in the Grec festival a couple of years ago.

À la ville de… Barcelona stars Joan Anguera, Ivan Benet, Marta Betriu, Laura Guiteras, Oriol Genís, Enric Majó, Victòria Pagès and Jordi Vidal and can be seen up until the 3rd of November.

The performance on the 20th of October will include a special chat with members of the company after the show.
