Local talent in the spotlight thanks to Poblenou Open Day

Culture and creativity go hand in hand in this year's edition that combines in-person and online events.

The neighborhood of Poblenou will open its doors on May 15th to the culture and creativity of local talent. Poblenou Open Day is back. An event organized by the Poblenou Urban District association that, alongside giving artists a platform for visibility, wants to help reactivate the neighborhood's economy.

After last year's edition, which took place amid the first wave of Covid-19, Poblenou Open Day will be back with a mix of daytime in-person and online events. Visitors who would like to attend the event — or follow it through their screens — will be able to enjoy a series of talks, creative interventions, and workshops on art, gastronomy and music. Among the activities scheduled by the participating spaces, there will be the latest samples of work of art studios, galleries and others such as La Plataforma, Piramidón, or Carmina Wiegerinck. Guided tours through the dance and creation studio of ALAS Artes en Movimiento will be available too. When it comes to creative workshops, Art Vallès is organizing one about watercolor painting while the Barcelona School of Creativity will be teaching corporal creativity and creative innovation. El Taller de Joyería is giving a talk on precious metalworking. The Windows Art Circuit will be taking part at the Poblenou Open Day too, with live art interventions to promote emerging and established artists.

The event will also hold the second edition of Urban Talks, a cycle of round tables centered around three interconnected issues: circular economy, the recovery and uses of heritage in former industrial areas, and the challenges arising from gentrification processes.
