The Mamzelles present their debut in the Poliorama with “My Sweet Country”

Dramatist Àlex Mañas and the singers of the famous recycling advertisement “Envàs on vas?” present a musical based around the current crisis

While they are better known for their musical talents, and indeed their popularity has recently soared thanks to the success of the recycling advertisement Envàs on vas?, The Mamzelles have theatrical roots. The three members, Paula Ribó, Bàrbara Mestanza and Paula Malia, are all graduates of the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona and have now united their talents with dramatist and director Àlex Mañas to produce a musical cabaret which uses the guise of an urban fable to reflect on the current social and economic crises which is affecting the country.

My Sweet Country, which can been seen until the 28th of April in the Teatre Poliorama, tells the story of three young inner-city ladies who decide to become exclusive escorts in order to flee the austerity to which the country has succumbed. All three of them dream of being princesses and their ambition leads them to confess their amorous adventures with politicians on a variety of television shows. A distinctive, contemporary, satirical tale about dreams, lost hopes and society’s longings.
