The Marató de Cambra, the big event of the Emergents Festival at L'Auditori

The venue on Carrer de Lepant is hosting thirteen concerts and a free musical marathon between 14 and 16 February.

You're curious, you're always on the lookout for new talent and no one has to discover the sounds of tomorrow for you... because you've heard them before anyone else. If you fit this description, you are waiting for the Emergents Festival, an appointment with new local and international musical talent organised by L'Auditori on the 14th, 15th and 16th of February. Saturday 15th being one of the most eagerly awaited moments at Marató de Cambra.

This is the eighth edition of a great musical event that brings together the best young talents, who are expected to be the great talents of tomorrow in different styles ranging from symphonic music, chamber music and old music to pop and jazz.

The pop-jazz of Au Rora (14th) is one of the first dates of a festival that also includes the Liceu Jazz Group (15th of February) and David Gimeno's DG Group (16th). The festival also features the Kambrass Quintet and Pascual-Vilaplana, performing pieces by Joaquim Zamacois, Anthony Plog, Irene Plass and Amando Blanquer; and the Jove Capella Reial de Catalunya, which, in a concert entitled Camins de l'ànima (16 February) performs compositions by Francisco Guerrero, Cristóbal de Morales, Palestrina, Tomás Luis de Victoria, Edward Elgar, Arvo Pärt, Patricia van Ness, Bernat Vivancos and Mateu Fletxa.

However, the highlight of the Emergents Festival is once again the Emergents Marathon (entry is free and there is no need to book, but places are limited), a great moment that begins on Saturday, the 15th, at 12 noon, with sixty performers aged between 12 and 18. It is the youngest group of the historical Societat Coral Amics de la Unió de Granollers, the Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió, which is considered one of the best treble choirs in Europe. The boys and girls of the group will perform new compositions by contemporary Catalan composers, conducted as usual by Josep Vila i Jover. At 4 p.m., there will be a performance by the North American pianist Jonathan Mamora (in the photograph), who was the last winner of the Maria Canals International Piano Competition.

With him, the trumpeter Matilda Lloyd (5 p.m.), ready to demonstrate that metal is not just a male thing; the strings of the Hèlix Trio performing pieces by Dmitri Xostakóvitx, Josep Maria Guix and Johannes Brahms (6 p.m.); and Benjamin Kruithof's violoncello (an original Guadagnini from the 18th century) with which, accompanied on piano by Zora Sargsyan, he will play pieces by Serguei Rakhmàninov such as Sonata in G m for violoncello and piano, op. 19 (1901), but he will also premiere compositions that have never been performed live in Spain, such as Reverie (1956), a piece by the British composer and viola player Sally Beamish.

If you want to get to know the latest talent, you can't miss the Emergents Festival, but before you come check the L'Auditori's website for all the information you need.
