The 23rd edition of Mecal Pro, online

The festival was supposed to be held in a hybrid format but eventually will take place exclusively online on the Filmin and FesthomeTV platforms.

A new edition of Mecal Pro, Barcelona International Short and Animation Film Festival, is coming up, specifically the 23rd. Due to the current health situation, it has had to make several changes to this year's format, which will finally be available online. As always, the short films selected are divided into animation, with six projects and two parallel sections for alternative animation and animation for adults, fiction, with two sections dedicated to Spanish and Catalan talent, and documentary, which will reflect on many different topics, such as captive animals or the power of sport. You can watch them for a month, from March 22 to April 22, on the Filmin and FesthomeTV platforms.

In addition, the festival has also prepared various activities that will take place in Zoom, such as conferences, workshops and master classes. For example, on March 27, Javier Roca will give a class on the future of VFX based on the series The Mandalorian, of which he is the supervisor. Or on the 28th, with Sergio Lara talking about animation and the stop motion technique. The festival is also a good place for novice directors or small producers to network.

The program for this edition will be available soon. Festival passes and tickets, which will range from 2.50 to 12 euros, will also go on sale shortly. You will find all the information on the Mecal Pro website.
