“Mgogoro”, in the Teatre Gaudí

Up until the 13th of November, Mentidera Teatre presents a theatrical experience which poses the problem of how to be happy in times of crisis

On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in the Teatre Gaudí, four actors present four monologues set in different day-to-day situations and end up coinciding at a New Year’s Eve party to discuss ways of attaining happiness in times of crisis.

The script for Mgogoro, written by Carol López, Rosa María Sardá, Matías Fieldman and Jaume Policarpo, is an intimate and personal proposal in which the actors (Mercè Pons, David Planas, Cristina Cervià and Meritxell Yanes) are represented in situations that are easily recognisable these days but which have been staged in a particularly unique manner.

The performance consists of four more-or-less dramatic, irony-tinged monologues and one final scene in which the four protagonists appear together. The scenes traverse a number of scenarios, occupying unconventional spaces in such a way that the spectators never return to the same location during the course of the performance.

Mgogoro is an innovative production by Girona theatre company Mentidera Teatre; a contemporary textual work which, all told, expresses a desire to be both life-affirming and optimistic. The performance can be seen up until the 13th of November.
