Monica Green, the voice of soul music, in Poble Espanyol

The singer, who has been living in Barcelona since 1987, is presenting a special concert for which she rescues songs from the great repertoire of black music.

The name Monica Green is synonymous with warmth, talent, and stage magnetism. After settling in Barcelona in 1987, when she fell in love with the city, she became a universal representative of the best soul and R&B music. She is now back at Poble Espanyol with an exceptional concert in which she will go through, once again, the milestones of the Motown sound, funk, R&B, jazz, and the many variants of black music.

The event will take place on May 14th at 8.30 p.m., in the Plaza Mayor of the Montjuïc area. With a spectacular staging and a huge dose of energy, this phenomenal voice will prove once more that she is the ambassador of black music in Barcelona. Since the 1990s, she has turned the Luz de Gas's venue into her operations center, where thousands of fans follow her religiously. This time, however, she will perform outdoors, following Covid-19 regulations and projecting her voice to the stars, where she belongs.

The singer came to Barcelona as a member of The Supremes Show, where she sang covers of the greatest hits of Diana Ross's legendary band. That is how her love story with the city began. She would later settle and record her first solo album, Soul Shoes. After releasing the album, it was the people of Barcelona who fell in love with the singer. Thirty years later, the admiration still lasts. The singer's voice is captivating at a short distance, but it is outdoors where the true potential develops.
