Monsieur Ardan, great traveler of the nineteenth century

The Museu Blau presents an exhibition about one of the most significant and mysterious characters of the nineteenth century

"M. Ardan, great traveler of the nineteenth century" is an exhibition conceived and created by photographer and artist Xavier Mulet based on an unknown and significant nineteenth century character, M. Ardan, globetrotter and expeditionary that dominated several disciplines such as photography, botany, zoology, literature, drawing or aeronautics.

The journey, the natural sciences and photography in the context of major scientific and technological advances of the second half of the nineteenth century are the topics covered by this exhibition featuring fifty photographs, thirty samples including plant specimens, fossils and volcanic material from expeditions to places as far away as Australia, the Gobi desert and Brazil, and also cameras that M. Ardan used in his travels. From these elements, the exhibition reconstructs the life of M. Ardan, whose origin lies a mystery not revealed until the end of the route and that you will discover from September 26 at the Museum Blau.

The exhibition is both a journey through the origins of photography and a tribute to travelers and explorers of the second half of the nineteenth century and their eagerness to make known new places, new species of animals and plants as well as recording and classifying the findings.
