Mostra Internacional de Films de Dones: its 29th edition is arriving in Barcelona

This year, the festival will be held at the Filmoteca de Catalunya between June 1st and 13th, and online through Filmin.

The Mostra Internacional de Films de Dones de Barcelona will be back this June to celebrate its 29th edition. The Filmoteca de Catalunya will host the festival in its theatres between June 1st and June 13th, with a program that will reflect the current state of the cinema directed by women. This year's retrospective is dedicated to Dorothy Arzner, the only female director in Holywood between 1927 and 1943. The festival will screen a total of 12 movies directed by her: Working girls; Dance, girl, dance; Get your man; The wild party; Sarah and son; Anybody’s woman; Honor among lovers; Christopher Strong; Merrily we go to hell; The bride wore red; Craig’s wife, and First come courage. There will also be some screenings in memory of Cecilia Mangini, an Italian documentary filmmaker who passed away recently.

The festival has also programmed three different activities that will run simultaneously to the festival on June 3rd, June 10th and July 7th: a conference on Arzner, led by film critic Marta Armengou; a session on the practice of documentary filmmaking by Susana de Sousa, and a group screening of Cecilia Mangini, under filmmaker Carolina Astudillo's charge. In addition, part of the festival's program will be available online from June 18th to June 27th through the platform Filmin.

Tickets can be bought through Filmoteca's website and are 4 euros per session.
