Museum Night

It’s time for one of the cultural highlights of the year: Museum Night

Over 80 centres in Barcelona and the Metropolitan Area will open their doors and fill with activities.

Once again this year, Barcelona is throwing itself into one of the cultural highlights of the year: Museum Night. Starting in the evening and running well into the night, the city’s museums will open their doors so everyone can visit. Plus, as usual, they will be filling their halls, corridors and courtyards with loads of activities for visitors of all ages. It is a night to meet with family or friends and enjoy it calmly, gaining a new perspective on this cultural heritage, based on history and memory, but also inspiring actions and creations, sensitive and moving.

This year, more than eighty museums will be joining in the event, in Barcelona as well as Badalona, Cornellà, Esplugues, l’Hospitalet, Sant Adrià, Santa Coloma and Sant Joan Despí. As usual, it will take place on Saturday 18 May from 7 pm to 1 am. For example, the Museum of the History of Barcelona will be offering tours and workshops at all its locations. The Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, in addition to opening all its exhibitions, has scheduled performances and project presentations. There will also be activities at Montjuïc Castle, with concerts and food trucks. At CaixaForum, we’ll be able to attend a theatre workshop, watch short films and listen to live music. One of the museums with the most activities will be the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia, with workshops for kids and adults, games, tours, demonstrations and shows. There is a very wide variety of activities programmed and you’ll surely find a perfect way to have a great night.

All of the Museum Night activities are free of charge; although access to the spaces is limited so you should plan ahead. More information is available on the event website.
