The museums' ins and outs
'In Museu' is celebrating its 5th edition on 19 June, with a record increase in the number of available visits
A new edition of In Museu is arriving in Barcelona; this year, with the participation of 14 centres from several disciplines. Castell de Montjuïc, El Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria, Fundació Joan Miró, Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona, Museu d'Història de Barcelona, Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya, Museu de la Música and Museu del Disseny de Barcelona are some of the usual ones taking part again this year. Joining them will be the Museu d'Arqueologia and the Museu Marítim. Besides, this year you will find more visits than in past editions, taking place at different times so you can organize your day as you wish.
In Museu is a proposal by Museu d'Arqueologia and Museu Marítim from the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona, which invites visitors to the museums and art centres to discover their inner workings. Museum professionals will take you on a tour through the restricted areas of the centres, showing you spaces that are not usually accessible, such as the collections' holdings, the reserves or the restoration workshops. Visits are led in small groups and by specialized staff guides, conservators, restorers, archivists or historians, who will share their passion for their work and explain the different methods of dissemination of culture and heritage conservation of the facilities in question.
