The Liceu Jove series of concerts is back

The end of November will see three days of performances with big bands, small ensembles and choirs.

The Liceu Conservatory is really proud of training the musicians of the future and the results that they get and, because of this, year after year they organise the Liceu Jove series of concerts. As part of this, students are given the challenge of taking to the stage to show off everything that they’ve learnt in the classroom. Thanks to this, audiences can enjoy huge talents that most people are still unaware of. This is a great way to listen to a wide range of different musical offerings in a fresh and vibrant setting. Now a new series of concerts is starting, dedicated to the Beethoven anniversary year and at the end of November there will be three days of concerts with formations of different types and sizes.

These concerts will run from 20 to 22 November at the Liceu Conservatory, however the series of concerts will run up until June 2020. On the 20th you’ll have the chance to hear the Liceu Conservatory Concert Band’s repertoire which will kick off its 5th season with pieces by Philip Sparke, Joaquin Rodrigo, Cindy McTee and Chen Yi. The following day there will be two concerts. Firstly, you’ll have the chance to attend the Small Ensembles Concert, with performances by the Flute Quarter, the Cello Octet, the Saxophone Group and the Guitar Group. What’s more, there’ll be a recital by the Liceu Conservatory Classical Orchestra, conducted by Virgínia Martínez and mainly made up of first-year students. To finish off these days of concerts, on Friday, 22 November, the Chamber Choir and the Girls’ Choir will take to the stage to sing pieces by Schumann, Brahms, Guinovart, Rossini, Montsalvatge and other composers.

Tickets are free but you need to register in advance. You can reserve your seat on the Liceu Conservatory website.
