Music, poetry and cinema to celebrate summer nights

CaixaForum Barcelona is offering an extensive and varied activity program throughout July and August.

If you don't know what to do on a Wednesday evening during July and August, check out the program CaixaForum Barcelona offers as part of its wide-ranging Nits d'Estiu festival, which includes poetry recitals, concerts from different genres, movie screenings and other performances. Some weeks, such as the first, Nits d’Estiu will screen movies on Mondays and Thursdays. It is kicking off on Monday, 5 July with the romantic drama Monsier by Rohen Gera. On the Thursday of the same week, on 8 July, Sorry We Missed You by Ken Loach will be screened. These two feature films will be screened again in the first week of August. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. On Wednesday, 7 July, there will be two different proposals: a performance concert by Carles Marigó and Francesc Isern under the title Breaking Bach, and a recital in honour of the poet Mario Benedetti, by actor Alberto San Juan and guitarist and composer Fernando Egozcue.

Some highlights of the remaining weeks of July will be a concert by Black Pearls of Gospel (14/07), a show by poet Enric Casasses accompanied by musicians Don Simón and Telefunken (21/07), a recital by the Hirundo Maris company (21/07), and a concert by Joana Serrat during the screening of David Lynch's film, The Straight Story (28/07).

August will not be short on entertainment and talent either. On the first Wednesday of the month, there will be a concert of Mozart's music conducted by Marcel Gorgori. That same evening, you can also enjoy the poetic show Antes de que tiréis mis cosas with Violeta Gil and Abraham Boba. In August, live music by Le Pink Tzigane (11/08), Voces encontradas (18/08) and Antonio Serrano Quartet (25/08) should not be missed.
