Music close to the heart

Música Secreta als Museus will offer a cycle of four small-format concerts in exhibition spaces that will remain secret until the moment of the recital.

For the second year in a row, this autumn sees the return of Música Secreta als Museus: a cycle of four concerts in May and four in October organised by the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona (ICUB) and Son Canciones in various museums and municipal heritage spaces. "Secret" means that the audience will not know who is playing or where they are playing until shortly before the show.

Música Secreta als Museus offers the possibility of accessing museum spaces in a different and surprising way, with communication that appeals to mystery and the game of guessing on which stages will be filled with music. In the spring edition, the selected venues were the Museu del Disseny, with Richard Andrews; the Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món, with Adriana Ospina; the Jardí Botànic, with Santi Araújo; and the Museu Frederic Marès, with Claudia Allmang.

According to the organisers, the audience will be so close to the artists that "they will be able to feel their hearts beating". In addition to enjoying the performance, the proposal explores new ways of making music and new ways of getting to know museums through intimate, inclusive and peer-to-peer experiences.

Seating is limited to 70 spectators, so advance registration is required. However, people who are visiting the museum at the time will also be able to enjoy the concert. To attend, all you have to do is send an email to musicasecretamuseus@bcn.cat, request one or two free places and wait for a reply with the relevant instructions.

The concerts will take place on Sundays 2, 16, 23 and 30 October at 1 p.m. Please note that bookings will open the Tuesday before each concert at 9 a.m. More information, here.
