Neurospaces

Music, art and science come together in a visual and sound experience created by Timothy Schmele

On Monday September 16 Timothy Schmele's work Neurospaces will be presented within the Campus Gutenberg program, organized by the Science Communication Observatory (OCC-UPF) and introduced by the group of singers and comedians Divide&Wenceslao.

Using a 3D audio system, the transformation of brain data obtained from magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and 26 speakers placed in a hemisphere, the Multipurpose Room of the Campus of Communication at the UPF will transform into a sound and visual map of the brain.

Neurospaces received the Phonos-KiiCS grant for music production linked to technology and neuroscience for young artists 2012, and is presented on the occasion of its completion.

PERFORMERS:
Kenzie Slottow (Flute)
Andrés Bucci (Oboe)
Vladimir Peña (Trombone)
Núria Andorrà (Percussion)
Zacharias Vamvakousis (Accordion)

Then Timothy Schmele will present two more works created for 3D audio:

Hemispherical Glitch Study
Live electronic set that uses absolutely no prerecorded sound. The composition makes use of different novel approaches to sound synthesis in 3D.

Waiting
Exploration into the details of movement through a video of the contemporary dancer Katrin Neue accompanied by a drone composition in 3D music and didgeridoo.
