Wax & Boogie, July 28th at ‘Blues Nights’

Nights with the best Afro-American rhythms

This summer, 'Blues Nights' are bringing the most outstanding bands of the national scene to Poble Espanyol

This summer, Wednesday evenings are special at Poble Espanyol. Until 25 August, you can enjoy, live, the cycle 'Blues Nights', with the blues rhythms of our country. After 8.30 pm, when the sun sets, the most outstanding bands of the national scene will start their shows to make you dance in a pleasant and quiet environment. This year, the 'Blues Nights' program features eight small-format performances that include a selection of Spanish artists. The next performance, 4 July, comes from the hand of Alberto Bello and Dani Pérez Quartet. Big Dani Pérez & Alberto Bello are referents of this music style in the country. Together, they are playing a repertoire that mixes two very different sounds, gipsy jazz and Honker.

Poyo Moya Trio will get up on stage on 21 July joined by Carla Sunday. The band will perform a repertoire composed mainly of their own songs, where they fuse blues with their sister rhythms: ragtime, gospel, boogie-woogie, ballads, swing, and American jazz. Carla Sunday's voice will be accompanied by Poyo Moya on the piano, Oriol Fontanals on the double bass and Reginald Vilardell on the drums. To finish off the month of July, the band Wax & Boogie will play on the 28th. This blues, rhythm and blues and boogie-woogie project, lead by Ster Wax and David Giorcelli, has as referents artists of the likes of Pete Johnson, Albert Ammons, Otis Spann, and Esther Phillips. More artists playing between 4 and 25 August are still to be confirmed.

Ticket prices range from 9 to 13 euros, depending on the seating area. You can buy them through the Poble Espanyol's website.
