Nights of history and legend in the Palau Requesens

Experience a cultural combination with an insight into medieval Barcelona on Friday and Saturday nights

On Friday and Saturday nights up until the month of April in the Palacio Requesen, the current head offices of the Real Acadèmia de les Bones Lletres (the Royal Academy of Literature), it is possible to sample a truly medieval experience that includes a night-time stroll, a historical chat coupled with a gastronomic proposal that is more than equal to the occasion.

And all this in one of the more exceptional private palaces built at the base of Barcelona’s city walls, the largest residence within the medieval city.

The evening begins with an original guided visit to the city’s gothic quarter –a 50 minute tour of the San Just district which has recovered all the splendour of its medieval past and architectural diversity. The evening continues with a dinner menu inspired by Catalan cuisine of the 14th and 15th centuries, a diverse and refined cuisine which was once considered the finest in the Christian world. Dinner is served in the Tinellet del Palau.

To finish off the evening, a history expert will give a brief talk. The perfect occasion to get the inside story on the darker side of Barcelona’s medieval past.
