Nocturnal libraries

The extended opening times of libraries equipped with study rooms, which will open until 1 am, continues until the 6th of February

Exam season is just around the corner and it is time to put the finishing touches to all the hard work of recent months. This means there is no alternative but to set aside long and often inconvenient hours for study time. While at home it is sometimes difficult to avail of an ideal study space in which company and other distractions which affect our concentration are absent, there is now the option of nocturnal libraries.

From the 7th of January to the 6th of February the availability of study rooms is greatly extended and a total of 26 rooms are open from 9 pm to 1 am, Monday to Thursday, distributed throughout all districts of the city. This offer is supplementary to the libraries equipped with study rooms that are open all year round, such as the Biblioteca Sagrada Familia, the Biblioteca Mercè Rodoreda on calle de las Camelias, the Sarrià facilities and the Monserrat, Sant Andrés and Garciloso study rooms.

The nocturnal study rooms are an initiative of the Regidoria d'Adolescència i Joventut (Youth and Adolescent Department) of the Barcelona City Council in conjunction with the city’s libraries and local councils.
