‘Ojalá el verano’

La Pedrera, committed to contemporary performing arts

They will première two pieces by consolidated artists and two by emerging talents.

Once again this year, Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera is showing its support for contemporary performing arts with a programme of innovative, ground-breaking shows in a series called ‘Noves Escenes’. All of the pieces combine movement, music, spoken word, video and objects, touching on universal themes from a specific perspective. Two of the productions have been created by consolidated artists with a long, prolific history, commissioned by the foundation directly, and will be seen for the first time ever. Firstly, Societat Doctor Alonso has created Andrei Rublev, una paniconografia, a piece in which sound space plays a key role, exploring the layers of sound, adding music and audio from the films of Tarkovsky and their surroundings. It will première on 2 May. The other event is the première of El Bosque (Parte II), a video piece by Pablo Gisbert and Juan Navarro that incorporates live music by AMSIA, on 16 May.

Plus, the programme also includes two more pieces, by emerging talents. Firstly, on 9 May we will get the chance to see Versiones parciales y erróneas de mi vida y mi gloria, by Glòria Ribera, which looks into the use of milk as a sedative for the masses and their emotions, through cuplé, tango, fandanguillo, foxtrot and pasodoble. Finally, on 23 May, we will be able to see Ojalá el verano, by Gaia Bautista, a highly introspective piece about a 30-year-old woman who is reflecting on the life changes around her. All of the shows start at 8 pm at La Pedrera.

Each show costs €8. You can get your tickets on the Casa Milà website.
