Ojo de pez Photo Meeting Barcelona, third edition

From the 26th to the 28th of June, the Virreina becomes a meeting point for documentary photography

La Fábrica and La Virreina Centre de la Imatge have organised the 3rd edition of OjodePez (Fish Eye) Photo Meeting Barcelona, an international photographers meeting whose origins can be traced to the documentary photography magazine, OjodePez.

The programme includes conferences, round table discussions and portfolio presentations. This year’s events, which will be held over the three days in the Palau de la Virreina, focus on photographic and journalistic documentaries in situations of conflict, from the first-hand experiences of professionals who have witnessed wars in various parts of the world, to the role played by agencies in these scenarios, to financing and crowdfunding.

Among the guests there will be experienced photographers, such as James Natchwey and Gervasio Sánchez, as well as younger professionals such as Samual Aranda, Bernat Armangué and Rena Effendi who, for six years, followed the path of an oil pipeline across 1700 km of Georgia and Turkey, gathering stories along the way. Journalists will also be partaking in the event, such as Ramón Lobo and Ángela Rodicio, among others.

On the 28th of June, Gervasio Sánchez will be presenting an intensive workshop titled “Los ojos de la guerra” (The eyes of war), during which he will be sharing his experiences with a limited number of participants. Prior inscription is required.
