Façade of the Palau Montaner

Guided tours of the Palau Montaner

You can visit this Art Nouveau residence on the second Saturday of every month.

The architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, one of the most important figures in Catalan Art Nouveau, instructed other renowned architects like Antoni Gaudí and Josep Puig i Cadafalch. He also has many outstanding buildings in the city of Barcelona, the Hospital de Sant Pau, the Palau de la Música and Casa Lleó I Morera, just to cite a few. One of his most important works is the Palau Montaner, even though he did not design it from the start. The owner of this building, Ramon Montaner, who was the architect’s uncle, was having problems with the original designer of the palace and commissioned his nephew to finish it. So, Domènech i Montaner was brought in to oversee the décor and finishes, where all kinds of art blend with works in wood, stone, marble and stained glass.

You can participate the guided tours offered at the Palau Montaner the second Saturday of every month. The sessions begin at 10:30 am and last approximately 90 minutes, and they focus on the elements designed by Domènech i Montaner which are visible on the palace’s façade, the garden and inside the rooms.

The price is 12 euros per person. Reservations are needed and can be made up to 10 days before the date of the tour. You can reserve your tickets by phoning 652 88 24 57. Keep in mind that the tours are only held if at least 15 people are signed up.
