Paquito D’Rivera in the Jamboree from the 20th of July to the 3rd of August

The legendary Cuban musician will inaugurate another edition of the Mas i Mas Festival, which will continue up until the 31st of August

Paquito D’Rivera visits Barcelona to inaugurate the 12th edition of the Mas i Mas Festival which, from the 30th of July until the 31st of August, will bring approximately 300 concerts to 6 different venues around the city and will include flamenco, techno, classical music, blues and funk, among other genres.

The winner of seven Grammy Awards throughout his extensive career, Paquito D’Rivera is one of the most respected jazz musicians working today. At just ten years old he was already a successful saxophone player in the Teatre Nacional in Havana and at nineteen he made his solo debut with the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba and founded the Cuban Modern Music Orchestra in partnership with Chucho Valdés.

His career took a further step forward in 1973 when, along with eight other musicians, he founded Irakere, a fusion of jazz, rock, classical and traditional Cuban music. On emigrating to the USA, he came in contact with musicians of the stature of Dizzy Gillespie, Arturo Sandoval and Michael Camilo and since then he has collaborated with countless jazz musicians and formations and has received numerous accolades.

Paquito D’Rivera will perform in sextet format from the 30th of July to the 2nd of August and accompanied by the Jamboree Big Latin Band on the 3rd of August. Tickets are priced at 30 € on the website and 35 € at the door. For more information, please consult the Mas i Mas Festival website.
